This is an extremely gentle yet profound therapy in which the therapist uses a light touch to “listen” to what is going on in your body. It focuses on the natural motion of the fluids surrounding and the tissues connecting the cranial bones, the spine and the sacrum at the end of the spine. Whilst “listening” to the subtle rhythmic motion of these fluids and tissues, the therapist is able to identify any restrictive patterns and to help your body to release them, thereby lessening any stresses and / or pain that you may be experiencing. Craniosacral Therapy is so gentle and safe that it is suitable for people of all ages and in treating almost any condition, from acute to chronic (long term) health problems, or to aid recovery from an injury or operation. It is also particularly effective in treating babies for a range of infant problems.
It is a whole body therapy which helps to increase vitality and stimulates and supports the body’s own healing processes.
Craniosacral therapy is different for everyone. Some people feel warmth, tingling sensations, a sense of weight through the body or a sense of deep relaxation. Some may experience momentary discomfort or sensations relating to an injury they have had in the past. These sensations will pass and generally leave you with a feeling of release and increased health.
You do not have to be ill or have suffered an injury to benefit from a Craniosacral therapy treatment. People find that their energy levels improve and they find it easier to cope with every day stresses as well as being better able to fight off minor infections. At the end of a session most people feel very relaxed. What can Craniosacral Therapy help with?

• Improvement of the symptoms you came to see the practitioner about as well as those related to them. For example treatment for a bad back can help reduce the frequency of headaches.
• A positive change in negative behaviour patterns.
• Better able to manage whatever life ‘throws at you’.
• Reduced stress.
• Improvement of psychological issues related to past trauma, your health or stress issues.
• Improved functioning of your immune system (e.g. fewer colds; illnesses don’t last so long; feel better etc.).
• Effects of past trauma are reduced.
• Can be used alongside other therapies and conventional medicine. It is important to note that Craniosacral therapy is not a substitute for medical care and that if you are taking prescribed medication you should continue to do so.
