My work as a therapist is based on 2 modalities, namely
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and Hypnosis. These 2 modalities are
themselves related in that the eminent hypnotherapist, Milton Erickson,
was one of the 3 therapists whose work formed the early foundations of NLP
My work however transcends the basic NLP
technique-based ‘therapy’ and I work in a broader therapeutic way,
utilising variations of NLP techniques and hypnosis to help my clients
effect the changes in their lives they are seeking. My style of work with
my clients is more closely aligned with Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy
(CBH), which engages the client in the process far more than is the case
in the traditional concept of hypnotherapy.
In the traditional concept of hypnotherapy the client
expects to be put into a state of deep trance and then be given
life-changing suggestions by the therapist, thereby passing responsibility
to the therapist for the client’s change. This I am generally reluctant
to do. I believe you will find my approach as relaxing but far more
fulfilling that traditional hypnosis.
The therapeutic process is usually fairly quick,
requiring about 4-7 sessions. It sometimes happens though that in the
course our work towards one goal, other issues arise and our work goes on
a bit longer.
I work with adult individuals and the work covers a
wide range of issues such as stress, anxiety, work/life balance, trauma
etc. I also have proprietary, CBH-based programmes to help those who wish
to stop smoking and those who wish to lose weight.
I am an NLP Master Practitioner, have a diploma in
Hypnotherapy, and belong to the following organisations:
-
Neurolinguistic
Psychotherapy & Counselling Association
-
National Register of
Hypnotherapists & Psychotherapists
-
General Hypnotherapy
Register
I have been “Accredited by the National Regulatory
Register for Hypnotherapy” and as such am a ‘Nationally Registered
Hypnotherapist’.
I subscribe to the Codes of Ethics of all 3 bodies, I
carry suitable professional insurance, I work with a UKCP-registered
supervisor and I engage in a programme of continuing professional
development.
